Why do we bite the things we love most?

Deep down the neck until the screeching of our teeth on bone glimpses back empathy.

We claw and drag out of fear, not hunger.

Scared of losing, afraid to be lost.

Set our eyes on the storm outside to scream our lungs out, hoping for sympathy.

What’s truly free might come back, I wonder.

Sticks crack under the weight of my body as I wander alone.

The moonlight shines colours, while TortEx wants me to drown.
